EVERYBODY-VS-STIGMA is the vision and passion of Kevin & Sonya Fischer, with the mission to spread a global message of behavioral health awareness, inclusion, and HOPE! The EVERYBODY-VS-STIGMA brand supports the mission driven work of the Dominique Fischer Memorial Foundation, which was founded in 2011, shortly after Kevin lost his son Dominique to suicide after his brief battle with serious mental illness. Dominique was 23 years old.
EVERYBODY-VS-STIGMA is a mental health advocacy organization dedicated to eliminating the STIGMA associated with mental illness, which is the leading barrier to the early diagnosis and treatment that leads to better outcomes. STIGMA KILLS! Our mission is simple; to ELIMINATE the STIGMA associated with behavioral health disorders like Mental Illness, Substance Use Disorder, Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Suicide. One of the most effective ways to ELIMINATE STIGMA begins with the public display of unity and support, to normalize the conversation about behavioral health disorders and treatment and encourage treatment. Our prayer is the EVERYBODY-VS-STIGMA brand will become the global unifying symbol of HOPE. When you see someone wearing EVERYBODY-VS-STIGMA apparel, you will know YOU ARE NOT ALONE! EVERYBODY-VS-STIGMA is more than a brand, it’s a MOVEMENT!
ABOUT US: A mental health and suicide prevention advocate, Kevin wears many hats. He is the Executive Director for NAMI Michigan. NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. He is the President of Crisis Intervention Team International (CITI), the “Gold Standard” of Crisis Response Models. He serves on the Board of Directors of several behavioral healthcare organizations throughout Michigan, including Governor Whitmer’s Suicide Prevention Commission, the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services Mental Health Diversion Council and Behavioral Health Advisory Council, Disability Rights Michigan’s Protection & Advocacy for Individuals with Mental Illness Advisory Board, Co-Executive Producer of the Dr. Michele Show, and others. Sonya and Kevin married in December of 2010 and together established the Dominique Fischer Memorial Foundation. Prior to that, Sonya was an active caregiver to Dominique and has steadfastly supported our advocacy mission. Retiring from her 28-year career in transportation logistics in 2020, Sonya has become a fulltime behavioral healthcare advocate and is the Vice President and Chief Creative Officer for EVERYBODY-VS-STIGMA, LLC.
